Biography

Thomas is a Saxophonist from Hertfordshire, and is currently studying for his joint MMus/MPerf at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, taught by John Harle. He regularly performs with the Schools ensembles, including performances with the GSMD Wind Collective, Saxophone Sextet and GSMD Big Band.

Thomas graduated from his BMus Hons with a 2:1 in 2017 at the RNCM, and during his time there performed in masterclasses for renowned saxophonists including Vincent David, Johann van der Linden and Phillipe Geiss. Thomas has also performed many times with the RNCM Saxophone Orchestra and RNCM Sessions Orchestra, where he performed on their tour to China in 2017.

Thomas is a Leverhulme Arts Scholar at the Guildhall School and has been the recipient of several external awards, including winning the Peter Lambourne Rotary Competition in and a scholarship to study at Dartington International Summer School. In 2018 Thomas was invited to perform at the Wigmore Hall with Voiceworks Ensemble, and also at the World Saxophone Congress at the Zagreb Academy of Music.

Recently Thomas is extremely active performing, including concerts for Guildhall Saxophone Sextet, Guildhall New Music Society, St. James’ Muswell Hill and St. Matthews, Bayswater. In the New Year he will be performing at St. Stephen Walbrook and Northwood United Synagogues, as well as concerts with W37 Saxophone Quartet, and leading W37 Saxophone Sextet in a new project with Gavin Bryars.

Thomas also has keen interest in arranging and editing, and was the Saxophone specialist consultant for the ‘More Graded Studies for Saxophone’ and ‘Improve your Sight Reading for Saxophone’, both published by Faber Music. In his spare time he transcribes and arranges music from recordings which have either gone out or never entered print.
